#CurlyHairProblems... Continued

I haven't been showing my curls much love lately. Between moving a few weeks ago, writing term papers, taking exams, working on presentations, raising a child, working, appointments, and everything else in between — I have seriously been neglecting my hair. It's been looking so flat and crappy that I've just been throwing it in a bun for days at a time. As a result, my curls have been looking A HOT MESS. I tried washing it and styling it with some Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie a few days ago and it looked horrendous. I decided that I needed to either try something new, or revisit some other products/techniques.

I decided to make some use of my full jar of coconut oil and do a pre-poo treatment (I pretty much only use it as a finger detangler on my daughter, makeup remover, and to rub on my nails prior to painting them). I've never done a coconut oil pre-poo treatment before, but like I said, I felt like I needed to try something new on this crazy hair of mine.

Then, I also decided to use a new deep conditioner that I bought at CVS last weekend — it's called IT'S A 10's Miracle Hair Mask and so far, I absolutely LOVE this stuff! I left it sitting on my hair under a cap overnight because it was actually super late when I decided to do all of this and ended up falling asleep LOL. My hair felt so soft as soon as I washed it out in the morning (but that could have been due to the pre-poo treatment... hmmm).

As far as styling products, I wanted to revisit something old. I actually used some stuff I complained about a couple of entries ago, Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-In and the Curling Custard. THat's it. Didn't combine anything else. And honestly... my curls were on point. WTF!? How come the last couple of times I used those products, they made my hair so crusty and flaky and flat!?? I'm confused folks. This is what you call #CurlyHairProblems SMH.

Before... a hot, stretched out, dry mess.

After washing and styling with KCKT/KCCC, still damp and kind of flat.

Fully dry, voluminous, semi-frizzy (but that's OK because it was at the end of the day), poppin curls.

So basically, I'm confused. Was it the pre-poo treatment? Was it leaving the Miracle Hair Mask on overnight? Was it the Kinky Curly Knot Today/Curling Custard!? I have absolutely no idea... I'm officially convinced my hair has a mind of it's own. However, I'm just glad my hair is no longer looking a hot mess LOL.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who goes through these types of things *emoji prayer hands*.

I have the issue. There are days my products work wonders. Then there are days I'm messing with my hair more than normal. I love your curls though!

Wow now thats a transformation; your hair looks amazing! Believe it or not, Ive had similar feelings towards the Kinky Curly Custard...or whatev its called. Even though my hair texture is diff. than most the ladies i know who use it...it seems to be one of those products you have to try and retry to get it to work for you. But hell, aint nobody got time for that! Lol
