DIY: Raw & Organic Hair & Body Butter

Monday, January 14, 2013

I have been wanting to make this concoction for quite some time now. I actually made a post about it last September and have been wanting to try it ever since. Since one of my goals in 2013 revolves around my health (which includes the health of my skin and hair etc.) I figured it was the perfect time to make my own natural, harsh chemical-free, homemade face/body/hair moisturizer.

Ingredients used: Raw organic cocoa butter, raw organic shea butter, almond oil, vitamin E oil, & organic unrefined coconut oil. These ingredients are all super awesome for the skin and have several benefits such as: moisturizing, heals dry skin, contains anti-aging properties, helps to prevent and fade stretch marks, restores elasticity to the skin, and is even good for those who suffer from eczema. Overall the purpose of this mixture is to moisturize and keep the body nice, smooth, and young :).

I have never actually used any butters in that rock hard state so I thought it was going to take a long time to get it to the perfect consistency. But nope, with the ninja food processor it literally look about 50 seconds. The most time consuming part was cleaning up LOL. I absolutely looooove how it feels. Super rich, creamy, and has almost a whipped consistency. I'm in love! I'm being especially generous with it on my stomach and thighs area to prevent any stretch marks. I didn't get any with my daughter so let's hope this time is no different lol *insert emoji prayer hands*.

This batch should last me a good while, especially because the vitamin E oil is a preservative. And I only used less than ¼ of the products I purchased so I will need to find some other uses for those products because I still have so much left over lol.

Sorry for the poor quality. I cannot find my DSLR anywehere, so until I either find it or purchase a new one, iPhone pictures will have to suffice. *sigh*
Overall I definitely recommend making this type of concoction. It is worth the money for the products because there are just so many other uses for them and they last a while! I think I paid about $45 for everything including shipping. Not too bad. And the benefits of an all natural, raw & organic skin and body care routine is worth it, in my opinion.

Take care!

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try my hand at making this. It does sound like a cheaper alternative to buying premade butters from the store.

I've always wanted to try these "butters" that everyone raves about but I didn't know it was so easy to make your own. I'm definitely going to try and make my own. Hopefully I can find everything at Whole Foods.
